This is our Christmas board for this year. It will be used throughout Dec. for church family to post Christmas cards (rather than giving one to ea. family in the church). All materials used (except the red letters) were purchased at WalMart. Simple, easy, and so colorful, I love it! : ) And, a very Merry Christmas to all the BBB readers!!!

Well, I hate to say it, but this is the last board for the summer. Our S.S. classes have all switched to fall and this big board will soon too! : ( I would be happy to stay summer longer, but we must move on! Elizabeth K. used the overhead again to copy some clip art she found online, then colored in the design and posted to the board. We had a "family Sunday" this week at church, so the board was to go along with that. She used the song "A Christian Home" as the theme. Thanks for another board, Elizabeth K.!

Safari VBS

Here is our VBS board for this year (I'm a little late in posting since this was the first week of August!). Designed and created by Elizabeth K. She did a great job painting free hand. I think she used the overhead projector to blow up some items on the curriculum we used. Then painted and, of course, did a great job as always, on the finished product!

She does a great job at designing her bulletin boards to match her kid's attendance charts which spelled out "HERO" as the focus is Bible heroes this quarter. She also was able to make it patriotic for the summer! She had Elizabeth K. use her cricut for the lettering.

Well, here is the board "makeover" I mentioned from graduation to patriotic. Nothing fancy, but it works! I used the overhead projector to blow up a picture of the liberty bell and cut it out of red bulletin board paper. Then, I hand drew in some details (obviously I'm not an artist!!). Flipped the stars over that had the kids names on them and added red lettering. Quick and easy to last through July!

Homeschoolers Program

This board is a little different as far as a church goes, but I decided to throw it in anyway. We have our 1st annual homeschool program this week so I decided to do a bulletin board to encourage the church family to attend. I went with a patriotic theme so I could quickly change it over after the program to keep through July. I'll do another post soon to show the "makeover". : ) My rolls of wrapping paper from WalMart got squished, I guess, so there are "bumps" in the background...not cool. The stars I got at Joann's on the clearance rack. The patriotic paper is from WalMart as well.

Anyone else out there have a board to post?! I miss hearing from everyone!

Mother's Day Unfeigned Faith

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm ready to see a new board on here! Elizabeth K. and I worked on this board last week. I had this table runner quilt piece and thought it would make a nice decoration on a mother's day bulletin board. We kind of went from there. Elizabeth K. finally got her long awaited Cricut so she made all the letters and flowers. The flowers are super cute as she double layered them and pulled out the petals a bit so they have a 3D effect. The paper quilt pieces are simply scrapbooking pages layered together. This board won't be able to stay up long, so I should be posting again soon! I can't believe summer boards are just around the corner! : )

Hello friends, my name is Andrea, and I recently discovered this website and was invited to contribute! I hope I may help in some way.

I would like to share just a bit about myself! I attend Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pennsylvania. I have been married almost two years to my wonderful husband and best friend, and we enjoy serving the Lord together at our church. (If you are interested, you can see our website here.)We have the privilege to work in the following ministries: Master Clubs Program (Wednesday nights -for kids), a small but growing bus route, working in the church office, doing bulletin boards, and whatever else needs done! What an honor to serve our God!

Well, my in-laws so graciously gave me a Cricut Expression for Christmas this year! So I got real excited about being able to cut out letters (as you can see!)...and I think I went a little overboard!

This board is composed of letters and snowflakes cut out on my Cricut, bulletin board paper background (our church supplies this in a variety of colors), and solid, colored border. Some of the snowflakes were cut out of patterned scrapbook paper (which can create a special effect sometimes), but it is difficult to make that out in the picture! Also, here's a tidbit: I cut out part of the letters with one kind of card stock, but then I ran out. I proceeded to purchase more white cardstock, but when I began cutting out more letters, I discovered the color was slightly different than the other white! Oh no! Whatever will I do? Well, I went ahead and cut out the rest of the letters, and then when I put the letters up, I just tried to mix and match the two "whites" as much as possible. In the final product, I think it would be difficult to notice unless you were right up next to the letters. Even then, you might need to be told what had happened to really notice it. So, don't despair when little things go wrong...it may be relatively easy to work out after all!

And I cannot write this without saying that I did indeed go a little "crazy" with this idea of being able to cut out the letters! They took a while to cut even with the Cricut, and perhaps even longer to put up on the board. I did not staple them, but used a "tape" applicator --kind of like using white-out tape. They were little sticky pieces that you just apply with pressure. (I hope I am explaining myself!) Sometimes tape looks better than a host of staples, but one-sided tape would take a very long time to roll up! So double-sided tape or some kind of "tape" applicator (like I used) makes it much easier. I would advise to try to find a shorter verse, though, unless you really feel God might want you to use the longer one!

Here is another little board (maybe about 2' x 3') in the same room that I try to match up with the bigger one. This time, it was relatively easy...just add more snowflakes, and keep a paper background and solid colored border!

The Earth Bringeth Forth Her Bud

Ok, here's a dual board with the ideas of Elizabeth W. and Elizabeth K. combined. : ) I bought the white, wire, outdoor flower decor on clearance at a discount store for $2 last year at the end of the season. I had no idea where I'd go from there. Then I found the yellow forsythia at Big Lots...it was actually a long chain of it, but Elizabeth K. cut it apart for decorating. We found the ribbon boarder in a storage tote leftover from years past. It's hard to see but this boarder has yellow and pink butterflies on it. We were undecided about what color background to use until we started peeling away the old layers of backgrounds and found purple (from the grape vine board) and decided to go with purple. I like to leave my backgrounds up on this board since it's such a large board and hard to get them up. Then, I just layer over them until I need a color that's already there and I just peel back the layers. Sometimes they're a little "poked up" with staple holes, but they still work fine. So, Elizabeth K. went to town putting this up and later I added the dogwood flowers which I found while cleaning out a closet! I would still like to find some pretty butterflies to attach to the top of this board to fill a little...if I do I'll repost the picture later.

An idea for when you're trying to attach thicker things than paper to a bulletin board..."T" pins (found in the sewing/craft area of WalMart) or Joann's for sewing work wonders!

On a side note...Elizabeth K. just got a Cricut which she has wanted for quite some time! She has assured me that she will have lots of great ideas for boards coming with this new tool. So, hopefully we'll have some ideas from that soon!

Read Your Bible...and You'll Grow, Grow, Grow!

This board was done by one of our Sunday School teachers to match her attendance charts which are growing sunflowers. She used a plastic table cloth for the background. I'm pretty sure she found all the other stuff at the Dollar Tree. I printed off a banner for her to go with the children's song "Read your Bible, pray every day and you'll grow, grow, grow!" Cute idea, thanks, Marlene!

Nothing too exciting here...another attendance chart post for the sake of my own memory! ; ) I am thrilled that it's time to put up SPRING boards and I'm thrilled that my Sunday School class is growing that I now have 8 charts to put up! I praise God for the changing of the seasons and for the new little faces of 3-5 year olds in my class! So, this is just blue wrapping paper from WalMart, attendance charts from A Beka Joyful Life, flowers and boarder from the local education store. I have discovered that WalMart has a fairly good selection of plain rolled wrapping paper that is great for boards instead of the old plastic tablecloth route. The rolls go a long way and they're only $3. Just a thought if you're looking for cheap backgrounds!

I think this an adorable little board for the nursery! Mom's design here...she uses Print Master a lot to print clip art for pictures. Material background, and white trim make a great little wintry board. So, there's the lastest from IBC. Hopefully we'll have Spring boards coming soon! : )

Here's another Elizabeth K. design. This one has been up at church in our main foyer since the beginning of the year. (Sorry for the delay in posting.) The wrapping paper used here for the background is a little too shiny therefore, Elizabeth worked to "calm" it down by adding the white and purple paper to it. I think she did a great job at it and it has been a nice wintry board.

It's that time of year again! I love this board because we put it to work! It is plainly decorated for Christmas and then everyone will bring in cards throughout the month to post for the entire church family. This saves on time and money making out cards to each church family as well as giving us a nice bulletin board for all to read in the foyer. A friend of mine told me if I gave her verses she would put a board up with them. So, John 15:1-8 is what I gave her and this is what she came up with! I love it; thanks Elizabeth K.! She used purple wrapping paper for the background, brown (mailing paper?) for the "vine" part and artificial grapes (though my son was sure they were real and pulled a couple off to try before he realized they were fake). : ) I don't normally show this entired board because it's so long and we used one side for announcements. Here is another one of Mom's boards that is in the nursery. I LOVE this adorable little board! So cute with a piece of material with farm animals (she said she thinks it's a chunk used for making a quilt) as the main background. Yellow felt fills the rest of the background with a grass border on the bottom. Words were all printed on her computer with PrintMaster...left side has animal sounds " moo, cluck, baa, etc." and the right side has the verse Psalm 100:1.

She used blue material (I think...it could be paper, but I'm pretty sure it was material...) and then a ribbon border. The words were all printed using PrintMaster on her computer. This is one of my favorite boards! The hot air balloons are made with posterboard, construction paper, string, and computer clip art. The clouds are simply made with white paper and white felt. Bible reading, church attendance, witnessing, obedience, and prayer are five things to set our affection on, but more could be added or used instead. It's a fun, colorful board for our kids to look at, as well as a reminder of what really counts for eternity.

This board is totally impromtu to cover up a blank board in preparation for VBS last week. I was playing around with leftover stuff: threw some brown paper up with a gold border and the 2 bandanas. Then I thought about the stick horse crafts (super cute from Michaels) and put a couple of those on. We took pics of the kids the first night to make their crafts out of. I used the extra pics to add a little to the board. Turned out cute in the long run! : ) Hopefully I'll have some new boards to post here soon! Anyone else out there have a board you want to post?!? Well, I hate to say it, but this was, once again, a quick last minute idea. I bought some calendars at our Michael's this winter since they were moving across town and had calendars for 15 cents! I figured they would come in handy for a bulletin board one day. We have a young lady in our church who is going to start working on this particular board (it's in our main foyer) so I gave her some ideas for this one and she went to work picking colors etc. She did the work with my imput basically! So, though basic, it will work nicely for a few summer months.

Here's a post mainly to file for my own memory. These are my summer attendance charts. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly a quarter goes by, but I hope summer lasts a LONG time! Anyway, the charts were beach pictures this quarter. When I found water background I had to get it...it's SO bright! Then I found a sea shell border so...wonderful...all set through August. One of our other teachers had aquarium attendance charts so she used the same background and border. I didn't take a picture of hers, but they turned out cute.

I don't normally do Mother's and Father's day boards because I don't like the fact that I'll have to take them down within a few weeks of putting them up! (Leaving boards up for 3 months is much more my style! ; ) ) However, this year I was at a loss of what to do following missions month and my mind went to work on a quick simple mother's day board. I actually had a very different picture in my mind of what I would do, but as usual, while I was shopping I found other stuff and changed course. So, here you have a very pink look...background is pink and black polka dot wrapping paper from WalMart. I already had black letters on hand. Paper doilies (I cut them in half) and pink daisies can also be found at WalMart. Thankfully 2 of the ladies at church gave me a hand last night putting this up and it went quickly. I'm sure the ladies at church will be surprised I actually did a board for them this year! : ) HAPPY MOTHER'S day to all the Mom's out there...especially to my mom and mother-in-law!

My sister in law did this cute board for junior church. You gotta love digital cameras-how they can catch the quirky little looks of kids, and how they make getting a picture so quick! We got a kick out of all the "kool aid" smiles shown...the after snack time in jr. church look. Anyway, nothing new about this except the letters. They are thin vinyl letters with sticky backs that I got at our local education store. I wasn't sure if I would like them, but after they were up I really liked how "clean" they went on (no staples and flat finish). They say they are reusable, so I'll have to update you later to let you know how that works for us.

Attendance Chart: Missions

Next on my list of basic boards...this is an attendance board in one of our classrooms. I LOVE using attendance charts to decorate a board because it's easy, and very colorful! This is another reason for all my borders, backgrounds, etc. that I keep on file, so we can quickly take down one season and move on to the next. I thought it was neat how the charts for this class, this quarter, have a mission theme (children of the world) since we have "missions month" at our church in April. So, the teacher used that to make a mission minded attendance board. Stephanie, I didn't even realize when you posted your mission kids that we have the same ones! : )

Decorating with visual aides...

This is a very basic board, but I decided to go ahead and post it just to give others ideas on posting basic visual aides. This is actually a story card from A BEKA. Since it's the nursery bulletin board it's ok to keep it simple (though I love the sheep one posted by A. Long!). I try to keep bulletin borders for all seasons in a nice neat little file where our teachers can get to them easily. I have several storage totes as well that are full of seasonal "helps" to make a quick board such as: snowflakes, candy canes, bugs, kites, hot air balloons, frogs, leaves, pumpkins, apples, etc. Of course, I also have lots of background colors and letters on file for the teachers too. You can come up with a board fairly quickly if you have the right supplies stashed! I'm going to post several more basic boards just; mainly for my own memory sake. : )

All we like sheep

This is a bulletin board for our church nursery. I used an overhead projector to enlarge the sheep clipart in the middle. You could use any sheep graphic in place of this. The "grass" under the picture is spring excelsior I got at Michaels and stapled to the board. The bulletin border is light blue gingham wrapping paper (also from Michaels) that I cut into strips.

Be Still and Know

January is always a hard month for me to come up with a new board idea! I think it's coming down from the "holiday high" of so many decorations or something! Anyway, last week I found this poster on a shelf in the church office. I got it last summer as a buy two get one free deal at our local education store. I had forgotten all about it, but it gave me an idea to do a simple yet thought provoking board. Sunday afternoon while at nursing home service I noticed their sparkly plastic snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and thought they would make a pretty addition to a board. The lady told me they'd gotten them at the dollar store so I planned to look there. However, the next day while I was at our local cake decorating store looking for the right color of blue tablecloth, I just happened to run into the same snowflakes. They were on a 50% off table which made them a great deal! I even found a white ribbon with silver snowflakes being sold by the yard that I could use as the border. With one stop I had all I needed to make my board! By the way, does anyone know how to take wrinkles out of the plastic tablecloths?! One reason I don't use them much is because I don't like the wrinkle look...but in this case I needed to save money. I used straight pins to hold the snowflakes up since a staple or glue wouldn't do the job in this case. So, that's my board for January...ok, it will probably stay up till March! : )

Untold Millions Are Still Untold

In preparation for our church's mission conference at the end of this month, we put up our missions board last weekend. This one was pretty simple, too, since we just bought the pictures to put on the board. The title is also the title of a chorus I remember singing in Sunday school as a child and one that we have taught our Sunday school kids to sing.

That is the title of our Christmas bulletin board, which we put up earlier this month. It's one of those simpler, quick boards that is rotated. The gift in the middle of the board was even made by someone else! But, the message is the important thing, reminding us of God's love in sending the wonderful Saviour that we have.

Thanksgiving Blessings

This board is nice because you can change the window scenery, verse, and a few extras and create a Christmas board. With Thanksgiving and Christmas being so close together this can help save time and money - two things in high demand between the end of November and December. :)

Background: Plastic Tablecloth

Border: Store bought scalloped edging

Lettering: Colored Paper - done by Cricut w/Design Studio (that's how the letters for each word are connected to each other)

Scripture: Colored paper / Typed out

Picture Frame: Construction paper & Ribbon matching curtain tie backs

Window Frames: Thick card stock

Scenic view: Chalked Free-hand (Chalk does come off - afterwards we thought to put clear plastic wrap over the picture - then it might give it a look of glass too -- just a thought) (You could find something with a scenery already on it - like fabric, wrapping paper, a poster, etc.. and use that instead ... just be sure to make your frame the appropriate size)

Curtains: Lacy-looking plastic tablecloth cut in 4 equal rectangular shapes and tied back with ribbon (Top of "curtain" tucked behind window frame and stapled)

Tablecloth: Round plastic tablecloth cut on one edge then tucked down behind table and stapled from underneath.

Table: Brown crafting paper - cut out free hand

Fruit and Candlesticks: Cricut cut-outs. (stencils, die-cuts, or clipart are other options)

Bread 'n Bowl: Construction paper - cut 'n colored freehand

Christmas Ornaments

This board is in the nursery where we mostly go for "cuteness". I think this is very pretty though, and may use the idea next year for our card bulletin board and place cards on the ornaments. Personally I like to add a sentiment to my church boards with something like "Jesus is the Reason for the Season". Anyway, this one uses wrapping paper for the background and the ornaments. Ribbons "hang" the ornaments. I would guess she used a scrapbook puncher to make the ornaments designs. Very Pretty!

Christmas Cards

This looks fairly plain right now, but I'm posting just for the idea. Each year our church does a bulletin board where the church members can post a Christmas card to the entire church rather than write out a card to each person. This saves time and money plus brings a lot of interest to the bulletin board! Usually I use bright wrapping paper for the background, but this year someone else did the board for me. They decorated our church "country" like with brown paper, straw and plaid ribbons. It's hard to see in this pictures but the cards are "suspended" (not literally, just looks that way) from the brown, twine ribbons. It's a very different look from the past, but it's gotten a lot of compliments. Hopefully the board will be full of cards very soon!

The Vine

Again...a board from my mom. I thought this one was pretty unique. Mom found the vine at Lowes in the clearance section (it was in the wallpaper section for decorating a child's room). She then had a challenge of sorts for people in the church to come up with the best verse to go with the vine and those are posted in the pictures.

I took a few pics of my mom's boards while home for a few days. This one is a missions board to go with their missions month theme this year of "That all the earth may know!" She used a chunk of material that has a world map as the background. The ribbon border has flags of various different countries. I didn't ask her, but I would guess she either used old mission posters or found clip art for the people of the world. The arrows and lettering are simply created and printed on the computer. Nice board, Mom!

Rejoice In the Lord!

This is a board I had used three years ago, so it did not take nearly as long to put together. The leaf pile probably took the longest at the time, cutting out all those leaves and pasting them just so onto a piece of posterboard. Making the boy was a bit challenging too; I normally don't put many people as such on my boards (unless they are already made), because they just don't seem to come out quite right proportionately. But, the idea for this board was one I really wanted, so I decided to tackle it anyway by looking through different clipart pictures and such. All the musical notes were printed from a clipart note to the size I wanted and then traced onto construction paper. Among the notes falling around the boy are some leaves that the kids wrote their names on.

I "stole" this idea from my mom's Easter board. CBD had fall flags on sale (CBD has many pretty flags if anyone is interested...check it out!) so I got this one and posted it with some foliage I bought at Joann's (also on sale! : ) ) If anyone knows how to get wrinkles out of nylon flags, let me know! I tried several things to no avail.

I found the idea for this board on a web site and purchased all materials at our local education store. The best part was one of the church ladies put it together for me while I was on vacation! : ) Simple and cute.

FROG (Fully Rely on God)

Again, one of our teachers found discounted stuff at our local education store. She wasn't sure how to turn frogs into something biblical, so I made the suggestion of "Fully Rely On God". She did a pretty good job changing it over and has another cute board for her Sunday school class.

Chocolate from Heaven

This past Saturday was our annual ladies and girls banquet at church, and the theme was "Chocolate from Heaven." So, based on what I was told as far as the color scheme and theme, this is how the board for the banquet ended up looking.

If I had to do it over, I would have used three-inch letters instead of four-inch ones, so that there would have been more space on the board. Since I could not find any brown letters, I traced and cut them out of brown felt. The clouds were made from white posterboard with stretched-out cotton balls on them. The "chocolate kisses" were foil-covered posterboard pieces with a paper flag coming out of the top. This board was pretty easy to put up and take down, because everything (except the background and border) was taped up.

Although I'm not planning to do this for future boards necessarily, this time I tried something different to get an idea of how the board might look. I used Scrapblog to sort of sketch out my idea and see how different arrangements might look. Since there were no pictures of Hershey Kisses, I used the closest thing instead--triangles.

I just put this board up for Spring/Summer. I started by taking lots of pics. of church people at work day and then in various areas of service/ministry Sunday at church. Then Icompiled the pictures into "scrapbook pages". (One page is unfinished in this picture because I still haven't gotten a picture of the ushers). I bought the material at Joann's on sale. Buying material with fine lines is often helpful in keeping letters straight too! Next I found a ribbon border with bright and matching colors. Over all I like how the look turned out. This one will probably be up awhile since it's not seasonal. I have some other ideas for summer though so we'll see...

One of our Sunday school teachers did this fun board. She was pretty excited to find the lighthouse, and wave border at our local education store in the clearance section. She often uses plastic table cloths as backgrounds which gives a variety of bright color at a great price. You can see, she hand wrote the verse Matthew 5:16 and then wrote the names of the children on the sailboats.

Missions: Go Ye Therefore...

This missions board was already coming down before I got a picture, hence the 2 missing prayer cards. A lady in our church wanted to combine our missions emphasis month with a spring look. I think she achieved that look well by using "scrapbooking paper". Very colorful and pretty! That background would probably work well with any basic spring saying/verse to make an easy spring board.

Jesus Loves the Little Ones (Nursery)

This was created for a church nursery, but it could be used for any Sunday school classroom. The background is light blue felt with green felt for grass. I used construction paper for flowers, leaves, sunshine and 2 butterflies. The little wooden turtle, lady bug, frog and pink butterfly came from the Wal-Mart craft department and were hot glued to the background.

Saved By The Blood!

Great Easter Board "Saved by the Blood!" designed by my Mom. The cross picture is actually an out door decorative flag she ordered from e-bay. The pussy willows can be found at craft stores such as Michael's. Mom often uses ribbons as borders which creates a little more "elegant" look for the main foyer walking into the church.

Busy Bees

Here is a board that is fun to display with its different colors! But, more important is its reminder of things we should be busy about as Christians. On the bees buzzing around the different flowers are the names of the students in our Sunday school class, as well as our names as teachers. I printed the words of the grass strips on green paper, cut the tops for a grassy look, and laminated the part below for extra protection. There is other creative potential for this board, such as 3-D objects (flowers, insects, etc.), so have fun if you should ever use this idea!
